Hi everyone - I'm new to the forum, so hello!

Really looking forward to picking up my 2014 T5.1 Transporter Shuttle this week (had a T4 caravelle before). My new shuttle is modified - wheels, suspension & remap (102 - 160bhp).

Can anyone recommend decent Modified Van insurers please? I'm over 50, and only use the van for domestic/pleasure.

Many thanks (y)

Just been going through this as ours is due 18th (cant believe its a year since we bought it!) anyway did the rounds spent may hours on the phone as I find go compare etc really frustrating they always manage to **** something up and found our current insurer Just Kampers the best with an agreed value showing all modifications with photos so no messing should the worst happen

Worth contacting Dan @ A-Plan insurance, if you're a member of the Dubbed Out facebook group you'll get further discount too. Was with Brentacre before that who were very competitive price wise. Just Kampers were full of sh*t in their promises to provide a ÂŁ50 voucher if they couldn't beat your renewal quote. Yes they'll beat it by ÂŁ2 but the cover isn't anywhere near like for like. It was their basic 'bronze' package which had double the excess and was only third party, fire n theft!! If I wanted the same level of cover it would have been over ÂŁ100 more than my renewal quote from Brentacre.

A Plan for me this year. Found they're not bothered by lots of mods, got a good policy that also covers all my camping bits and bobs :)

Adrian Flux were good for years, until I got into a strop with them for failing to record my NCB properly (and, to be fair, Dan from this forum has offered to look into my complaints).

Thanks mate, appreciate the reply - I'll give A Plan a try, too (y)

I was always A Plan they weren’t bothered with mods other than the seats but coz my van was modified to 9 seats they had to put me on a mini bus plan
Which meant not insured to drive anything which isn’t always a big deal but handy to have
This year spoke to Dan from Adrian flux
They beat A Plan by nearly ÂŁ200 with better cover and insured to drive anything fully comp

was a no brainier for me

I picked my panel van up last week and planned to ring round for a few quotes. As I was sealing the deal I got a call back from A-plan. I gave her my mod plans, only springs, wheels, windows and a single rear seat. She called back with ÂŁ400 which sounded good so i just went ahead. I got a call from A-plan today to say the mods had not been added to the quote in error and it's now ÂŁ750. I'm 48 with full no claims so this seems a steep increase. I've cancelled and will give Mr Flux a call tomorrow. My previous insurer LV quoted cheaper than A-plan.

I'm elated to share the news that I've recently acquired the contact information for a company that has long been on my radar. Their reputation for innovation and excellence ovo customer service has piqued my curiosity, and I'm excited to take this opportunity to establish a connection, gain deeper insights into their operations, and explore the potential for future partnerships and collaborations.
Well, actually it's already an indicator of unreliability, I try not to work with them.

Been busy so not had chance to call Aplan again (will do tomorrow as insurance runs out). I got a call back from Adrian Flux though. Why do insurance companies base their quote on a previous quote you've had and not just give their best deal. I told them Aplan was ÂŁ750 but not the modified specific department and they came back with ÂŁ695. Then I said I'd had a cheaper quote with LV at ÂŁ600 and they quoted ÂŁ595. Just puts you off tbh.

Yep, its like when you get an extortionate renewal quote through so you find a better price elsewhere and then ring to cancel .
" oh, well we can better that price"
Well why didnt you do that before sending out the renewal then?
Feels like theyre happy to have your pants down until you wanna take your business elsewhere.

Been working 6-18 so not really had chance for more quotes, although the van is in the pits while the bumpers are colour coded so no rush. Last night on my dog walk thought I'd do a token confused.com quote while strolling round (they do modified vans up to 6 modifications). The 2nd on the list was ÂŁ780 and went up to over 1k quickly, but first was through Carole Nash (nope I'd never heard of them either) and was ÂŁ360. I went with these, I'll see if I get a call to confirm the mods and up the price, but hopefully not as i listed everything through Confused.
