Thought it was a snake at first....





Apparantly it's an elephant Hawkmoth which are 'very common in the UK' according to the patronising cow at Bristol Zoo who spoke to me like I'd reported finding a Wood Louse...forgive me for daring to want to know what it was.....well I've never seen one before....let alone the adult version:

i had similar experience when i phoned up a wildlife center about a skunk that had been caught near us ,said in the newspaper report they had to google care for it but try and give a few tips to save money and they were just like im busy get off the phone atttitude.:(

Wow that is cool, I get Humming bird hawk moths in my garden.

Quite an audible pitch noise to them close up.
