Hello all
I have just purchased our first van which is a t4 2.4d 🤗 we are planning to build her into a camper for family holidays with our little 3 year old ( I think she is more excited than me lol) which as a family we can’t wait for! We have always been campers but out the back of an Octavia so this T4 will be a real treat!
We have bought a bit of a project van as we wanted to build a van which is completely ours so we are starting from scratch, I will be paying someone to do the welding and any mechanical work as I have no experience at all but everything else we plan to do ourselves including a full respray 😬 I have done some custom painting but on high end push bikes so a van will be a challenge but I’m up for it.
So our plan is to build our dream camper as a wedding present fro my partner, we are getting married in august next year so it has to be finished by the! Our budget is a max of 7k So lots of shopping about and bargain hunting to try and build it to a high spec, We will keep a list of every nut and bolt we buy to show how much we spend to create it! At first I thought this was loads and it would be easy to build something for that money but after a few purchases I have quickly learnt this may not be that easy.

and this is our starting point! It’s had some welding done and is on the road but it does need a bit more welding and a few panels

Straight in with some updates of the build 😀
I haven’t actually picked the van up yet I should be getting it tomorrow but it’s off a good friend so I kind of know bits that needed doing which is
•New side sliding door with a window
•New Bonnet
•New left hand barn door
•New wings
•Welding new sills, and front arches + anything else we find 😂
So I took to the internet to source my parts and Facebook market place lead me to a tidy Bonnet 30 mins down the road so that was great, the guy was lovely and gave me loads of advice including telling me about a guy who specialises in T4’s also just down the road so I couldn’t believe my luck , so next day I went to see this guy! He sorted me a mint sliding door with a window and also a rear barn door he suggested just buying new front wings as he said it is a paint to find good condition used ones, but also he can do my welding for me too which is great to get it all done in one place. Things are moving fast already

After sorting out the essentials that need doing I thought I deserved to buy some shiny bits 🤗 so I spent far to many hours on EBay and end up buying some DRL headlights and some alloy wheels too. I know alloys are a funny subject from reading the forums and Facebook etc and I wasn’t sure if I was to go banded steel or alloys, eventually it came down to budget and I could get better deals on alloys so I won’t this way, I’m not sure about the load rating as that seems hard to find on my wheels I have bought but the tyres are extra load so hopefully 🙏 it’s ok! They were an absolute bargain with only test miles on them, I’m Assuming someone bought the vehicle and upgraded the wheels! They are 17 on 225/50/17 and I think they look great
