After still kicking myself for getting rid of my last T4 5 years I was offered this van over the phone, all i knew was it was a W reg, MOT`d till May 2012 but with a siezed engine, i knew it was a 1.9TD so thought straight away 1.9TDI 1Z conversion as i would probably have done this anyway. So agreed to buy it without even seeing it. :confused:

When i got there i discovered she was just what i wanted, SWB, short nose, tailgate with glass and rear wiper and to cap it all of......a 50 Year Anniversary model with;
Remote central locking
Electric windows
Electric heated adjustable mirrors
Factory alloy wheels and.....
.......twin sliding doors!

All this for £200 H:

On the hunt for donor car now for the engine conversion.

Build has been slow, got clutch, flywheel, gearbox all back on, had timing belt fitted today thanks to BVR Automotive (VW Specialists) in Stoke On Trent. Will spend Saturday putting belt covers on and fan belt etc. and put 1z loom into the engine bay ready for engine to go in.

Gear linkage parts renewed while engine out, lots easier

Engine all ready to go in

Loom ready to go in

All in place

Last weekend got the immobiliser in and loomed up, connected everything else up inside the van. This weekend just got to connect the battery, bleed the diesel up and turn the key H:

OK, dissapointing weekend :( wouldnt start, spent a few hours sunday night trying sort it out, we found a wire that Penbryns guide said you dont need that my van did need, but i guess no 2 vans are ever the same, so my advice is dont throw anything away until its up and running, plugged it into fuse box and connected to battery and this gave power to my glow plugs, then it fired but only for 2 seconds, this was down to an immobiliser fault, i checked the ignition live to the immobiliser box and there wasnt one, so found a different feed and she runs A:A:A:A:.

Next job is to tidy up wiring, connect gear linkage, plumb in the cooling system and put front end back on, got L200/Pajero intercooler to go on then get her fine tuned H:

This van is well excellent Dude. Refurb the wheels and stick them on. Original Equipment so will be propely load rated.

Sometimes I think people spend a fortune on alloys with a really low profile and they don't suit the van.

Did you know that FIL is a Co. Fermanagh, (N.Ireland), reg?
