am looking for a second hand digital SLR, cannon make, for my other half.
we have a baby on the way so don't have a lot of money to splash about! he already has a canon slr but we both would love to use a digital version.

any suggestions? I missed a good one that was for sale on here a little while back and I'm kicking myself now!!

www.mpbphotographic.com - realy mint guy ring him up and haggle
www.fixation.co.uk - used generally ex press but working and cheap, I just flogged a 3OD for £18O the other week, I do it for a living and go through cameras at a rate,I would look at a Canon 2OD, or 3OD or a 4OD if your budget will stretch ( ive got 5 cameras, but your not getting anyRasp:)

Suggest the Canon 400D or slightly older 350D. Both good entry level dSLR's.

Have a look on either of the following forums. First is generally america centred both a few UK users and sellers.

I know you said second hand, but with the release of the 500D by Canon they're should be some good deals on the 450D at the moment. Can usually pick one up with a couple of lenses.

I buy most of my kit online from someone in America, but with family over here. I know the guy, so it's not a scam.

I know my Dad seriously rated his Canon 350D sold it to get a 400D and was bitterly disapointed :(.

I have a Nikon D80 and I think that the photographs are slightly better than Canon comparable cameras but this is an arguement which just keeps on going round in circles.

If your looking for good results without spendings a bomb 350D would be a good one I think. Ye folla! :)

I'm pretty sure, that with Canon, you can use the lens from the old SLR on a new digital camera and save yourself a few quid. B

hm. just seen the last post - guess you're ahead of me.

just look every where,
i glanced at the classifieds in our local co-op easter time which i rarely do and there was a nikon d50 for £50 i went round next day and it was an old couple thinning their collection.
and he mentioned he was selling a zoom lens when he was back from hols so 3 weeks later i went round and it was a 18-300 mm af lens and he threw in a tele converter for £50.
so for £100 i hd a d50 2 lens and a teleconverter,battery and charger T:
me wife has it as a spare for her d70 and i get to borrow it occasionally. :D

I can really recommend looking in small ads, the ideal seller is someone who bought it as a gadget a few years ago and has hardly touched it since, i always try to buy photographic kit this way.

I would seriously look at the Canon 1000D - it's the new entry level DSLR so a model down from the 450D but it looks like it does pretty much everything most people would want and it's only £400. I guess it depends how much you were looking to spend.

I have bought quite a lot of camera gear from warehouseexpress and only had good service.
