I've seen quite a few recommendations for these guys kicking about, but I just thought I would add my bit...

After buying my caravelle with no service history a couple of weeks ago I booked it in to these guys for an inspection and cam belt change. I have to say they were amazingly friendly and helpful and in my opinion very reasonably priced (although I have recently moved from London so I guess everything will seem reasonable for a while :D).

Seeing as I was doing getting the cam belt and a couple of other bits done, they threw the inspection in for free.

Phil, the guy that I dealt with was brilliant and the it was the cleanest garage I've been to - and to me that says a lot. They always seem busy too which is a pretty good sign.

I'll have no issues taking the van back for anything that needs doing

I can't speak highly enough of these guys. I took my 71 beetle and then my 72 bay to them for 9 years in total, sometimes not visiting between MOT's (unbelieveable I know, but true!) they always knew my name, remembered me and the history of the van etc. Happy to chat on the phone to give advice. Whenever the van needed a replacement part, they would try to source a second hand one to keep costs down.

It's a family run company (feels like it too) and when I first started visiting, the old man was still happy to deal with the classics (as he had done all those years ago when he opened his VW specialist garage) but towards the end of my time with them he was less able to do so, which meant when my van needed a load of welding I was forced to go elsewhere.

I love these guys, I'd recommend giving them a go, but get in early, there always seems to be a 2 week wait to for an MOT (a good recommendation in itself.)

Address for these guys is Portmanamoor Lane, Splott, Cardiff.

Ps. I now have a T4 and haven't used them as much as I've moved away from the area, but when circumstances allow I still pop in for my MOT and stuff (though to be honest, I'm at remembering when it due, so end up going to that drive through place in Ely). I haven't been in for a year and a half, but I know if I went in tomorrow, they'd know my name.....it goes a long way these days.....
