They go through these holes.

 

I've had them out to change the struts but the bolts are not in the best condition.

I need the spec on these bolts and nuts.

Any specific reason why you can't just measure the old ones?

TBH for stuff like that I just phone a dealer or TPS. You might pay a few tens of pence more than buying from a bolt supplier, and occasionally they only sell the bolts as part of a bigger assembly, but often they are available singly.

 

I took them off to put the new struts on for the MOT, old bolts are back on but I noticed the condition, It's not a urgent requirements but it would be nice to replace.

Yep I could get them off again, just wondering if anyone knew off the top of the head.

M12 x 1.5 x 65 but I don't know what the tensile strength will be - prob 10.9 or 12.9

I'd just buy the bolts from either TPS or your friendly VW dealer, (I have one!).

Part number looks like N 102 096 05 but again, if you give your VIN to TPS or VW they'll check the fit.

I wouldn't have thought so. That type of clamp does not need to be tightened massively tight to be effective.
