Here at NWCC we recently had a local businessman call in on us;
Having purchased a new 2013 VWT5 (SWB) Kombi he had a list of requirements for a conversion that would best suit his lifestyle.

It is widely know that the NWCC team will only complete the conversions outlined on our website;
However we have noticed of late that a large number of enquiries have been outlining the usefulness of a kitchen pod within the T5.

Our client had to carry a minimum of 6 passengers at any one time, also wanting to house cooking facilities / running water.
Here comes where we step away from the ‘norm’ and produced a neat kitchen pod.

First Off the vehicle was stripped back to basics, with the removal of the (Double & Single Bench) Kombi seating, this giving us a complete blank canvas to work with…

The initial stages of the conversion were completed within a few days, Fully lining of the vehicle and soundproofing where required. The conversion then came along at such speed I wasn’t able to capture many images before the end result.

With the need to carry 6 passengers, a once piece triple kombi seat was located in the third row and a continental double kombi bench in the second. Then the original Captain seats were placed back into the first Row; Making this a comfortable 7 seater.

With an up and coming sports enthusiast for a daughter who already has 17 Welsh Caps to her name a lot of time is spent at the side of football pitches and training grounds or traveling around the country, hence the need for a kitchen pod. Our client wanted to be able to make a cuppa of tea and a bite to eat on those cold winter afternoons whilst watching his daughter.

The pod designed houses a Waeco CR50 Compressor Fridge and the CAN FL1323 One burner hob and sink, with storage for a 13L water bottle & 904 Gas Bottle.

To keep the passengers entertained we also installed the AVtex (L186DR) 18.5” LED TV/DVD with High Definition FreeView, perfect to keep ‘someone’ quiet. This all running from the leisure battery located under the drivers captain seat, with an intelligent split charge system located under the bonnet to keep the leisure battery charged whilst travelling.

Additionally as most kids these days have entertainment gadgets that need charging we located a 12v socket & USB port to the side of the pod for easy access for those rear passengers.

Finally the smaller finishing touches such as an Alcantara Headline, LED Lighting, Curtains, Scatter Cushions and carpeted flooring mats complete the conversion.

With this being something a little different our client took the time to call in on a number of occasions to check the progress and see that the conversion suited his needs. Once again we thank another T5 owner for choosing us here at NWCC as their conversion specialist.
