I have a 1.9 59plate T5 ( think it’s the 84bhp BRR engine ) - BT59 EHW

I’m approaching 160k miles, service warning just came on
I’ve replaced the cam belt, tensioner and water pump about 4K ago...

what else is recommended to do? (Service wise)

Most importantly...what is the definitive advice on the oil I need...so much conflicting info!
Not looking to scrimp and save, I want what’s needed , what’s best and what VW recommend to keep my girl going for another 100k plus

5w-30 seems like the norm...but what brand or variant or type.. does it matter??

What does ‘long life’ mean??

I use my van as a daily driver but only do a pitiful 5-10 miles a day average , but trips out most weekends 50-150miles... I probably don’t even get my engine ‘warm’ most average days...

What I’m trying to find out is..for my type of use..what’s the best oil to fill her up with ??

I use Fuchs personally but any oil listed within vw spec would be ok.T:

Long life means just that, some say it will last 20k or 24months but i prefer to change my oil 10k or 12 months T:

If you are doing 10k per year I would change annually. 507.00 spec oil be kind to you DPF as it’s low ash oil
