52 plate T4
2.5TDi (blue i so its 88bhp)


Any ideas please. Is it just the Oil Pressure Switch or does it have an Oil Level Sensor in the sump. There is loads of oil (always has been) and the oil pressure is fine.

Runs fine other than an alarm sounds as soon as you start it and then constant amber oil light

Check bonnet switch connectors, it's oil level warning light, will either be corroded connection or switch

Cheers turned out to be a bonnet connection switch (a trick I never new about) Bridged it with a paperclip and some insulating tape. Job done. It wasn't a genuine VW paperclip so hopes its going to be ok !!!!!

Careful it may invalidate your warranty not using a genuine VW clip. I:

Sometimes the ECU will not reset after the bonnet is opened - the trick here is to disconnect the battery for a couple of hours & then reconnect it.

well bugger me,just today mine came on with a beep.i panicked pulled over as soon as possible,checked around plenty of oil,no horrible noises,came home checked on this forum.and sure enough i found the bonnet switch connection bad,it had gone green,so i cut and joined wires,problem fixed.what does this switch do? im thinking its in case the bonnet not closed properly?

Is that the switch/button located at the top left (as you look at the front van) of the bay?
