Hi Fella's , I'm missing something and I bet it's the fuffing obvious .

I have 2.4D 92 velle on a aab engine

My problem is I have to turn it over for 30 seconds to get it to fire, it happens when hot and cold but once running all is fine.

If I stop the engine and leave it for about an hour and try to restart it it will normally start first turn, but not all ways !

if I leave it for a few hours it's always back to cranking it till the battery is nearly flat to get it to go.

I have changed fuel filter looked at the normal stuff :*

So what have I missed

Any suggestions that dont involve TNT would be a great help T:

Check for air in your pipes by pump
I had the spindle leak which created air which obviously takes longer for the diesel to get to the engine
Sounds like it might be something along them lines Gilbz T: ( how did you sort it ) and how much LOL:

I know the Glow plugs are the normal problem but it does it when the engine is hot and the glow plugs are not used T:

Thaks fellas

I had the seal replaced along with having the immobilser cracked/ taken off as I had intermittent starting problems. The imobilser was kicking in when it shouldn't

Total cost with new seal was £100 cash

Search the forum for seal replacement on the throttle spindle.

You may see a leakage on the spindle or look where the pipe goes to the pump for air bubbles.
Could also be fuel pipe split or air getting in the pipes on the fuel filter

Well It looks like I was missing the fuffing obvious LOL:

I think the fuel filter was to blame , new filter and so far no problems A:
