My dad was watching the Italian Job the other day. He was trying to tell me that the van they were using was probably a VW, because I didn't actually know what it was he remained unconvinced of my certainty that it wasn't.
My best guess was probably "a Bedford or something", a google search yeilded this shot, which is described as a "Thames 10cw" has anyone even heard of this company?

Then another unrelated curiosity, this morning I was reading about Ssangyong, which lead me to the Mercedes-Benz MB100which in turn lead me to the Spanish built DKW F 1000 L...

the top van is a Ford Thames. T:
Rare as hens teeth but i know a few people who own one in my dads van club the National Street Van Association.
The NSVA came to the UK about 30years ago, it was massive up to the mid 90's but due to internal politics its now smaller with a core following. There are plenty of old vans in the club including chevys and bedford cf's
I grew up going to these events with my dad and his mates (lots of ex-bikers) and they saw fit to get me drunk from the age of about 12! LOL:
The second shot is a DKW which is now part of Audi.

here is a link to some vans on the NSVA site . http://www.nsva.co.uk/nsvavans.htm

My dad has a MK2 Transit with the 3ltr V6 essex engine, manual with overdrive in 3rd and 4th.
Here it is -

Lovin that exhaust T:
Yeah it sounds sweet too, 3ltr petrol beastie!

The old man has fitted a chevy day van interior in it too, the back seat is a variation on the rock and roll bed. He's 58 and still camping with his club several times a year! T:

That's a cracking website mate T:

Never heard of the NSVA but I've just had a good look at some of those vans.
Some mad, mad creations (in a good way :D).
Makes a change to see some variety.
