That's similar to what I'm thinking, but trying to incorporate a wrap around sofa so only the front of the sofa needs pulling out to make a bed. Storage completely underneath while retaining room between the back of the wrap around section and the rear doors for my bike (y) does that make sense?

In the space of 3 hours, I was driving into work thinking I'll get RSC to install a rock and roll bed whilst it's in having the leisure battery fitted, to now designing my work sofa bad and contemplating doing the electrical work myself! 😂 Just goes to show how quickly plans can change with these vehicles!

I think the phrase is 'constantly evolving'.
You could build a space for a porta loo into your new sofa ....you could almost make it a commode.
Theres plenty of kits available to do your own leckies mate and you could always have someone look them over when youre finished if you dont trust yourself.

I found it very satisfying doing the leckies myself - you can route the cables exactly how you want and as neatly (or not) as you please. Feed your OCD to your hearts content!

Haha yep, actually used "evolving" in another thread trying to justify the mind changes 😂
Already ran into problems with version 1 of seat, bed and loo, so onto version 2. May have to put a hold on making it poo ready :poop:🤣
Ok that sounds a bit less trouble, would struggle to know what parts I'd need, will do some diggin' about (y)

I'd love to feel satisfied after installing my own electrics, just worried it'd be less satisfied and more electrified! ☠

just fire any leccy questions you have up here and someone will answer them, or draw up a wiring diagram before you do it so someone can check out it. doing the final fix on mine was my favourite part of doing the van. have a pack of cable ties ready and a label maker and get your cable porn on!

Thanks mate, some sound advice right there, will certainly be doing plenty of research and asking lots of questions before I start wiring (y)
Another little update...high level storage shelf above drivers side window...

Still want to do something with the roof as it's letting things down a little. Maybe should have done that before the furniture 😫

Really simple to re-trim the headliner (at least in the back anyway!) - I trimmed my cab headliner to match the back.
It was a serious PITA but that's cos I didn't have 4-way stretch fabric (which would have made it a doddle!) so that's worth considering if you're going to do it. I always think they look unfinished when you see campers with the original cab headliner in a different colour/fabric to the rear.

Yeah that's very true, already seen you can buy a headliner cover that improves the cab at least, then like you say carpet the roof. Will be looking to have a lowered roof section with downlights and led surrounds (y)

Another little update, removed the heavy metal low level bulkhead and fitted some oak covers to hide the seat bases, they're on magnets so can be removed easily when I come to swap the seats out (y)

Now back to designing a sofa bed, want to get a nice rug in there to so it feels cosier.

I find the van is a much bigger more useful space with my front double folded down and the driver seat turned on the captain base
How come you have decided on fixed fronts pete ?

I've not really decided on what to do with the seats, I'm keen to get some recaro cs in there, and potentially have them on swivel. The panels and storage box are removable so I can adapt the van with every mind change I have! (y)

Another little update, ordered a couple of bits for the van, nice honey combe grill and new dash vent...
176503

Yesterday I got round to replacing my broken dash vent, was a bit of a pig to do but all done now (y)
The offending item...
176499

You need to remove the glove box and side panel to have full access to the clips...
176500

After some time trying to pull that damn thing out, I found there was a screw in the most stupid of places, unless you have a small 90deg ratchet with a T20 torx, this isn't easy to remove.
176501

Once this is out you can ease the vent out while depressing the spring clips, top, sides and bottom. And the new one simply pushes in, didn't bother with the screw as it's a very tight fit...
176502

Still yet to fit the grill, need 4 black screws to secure it in place.
Also was sketching last night and have finally designed my sofa bed, I think it's pretty genius 😇 just transferring my hand skecthings into solidworks to check it all works 😁

Thanks bud. I may invest in the honeycombe fog surrounds too, I'm tempted to scrap my to-do list as it's getting longer by the second! 😂

I think I'd need to remove the current surrounds, not sure how easy they are to get out, will have to do some diggin' (y)

Mate, this is coming on well.
Love that your building the furniture yourself instead of buying it all. Almost makes me wish mine didn’t have it all in there already so I could have a crack at building my own as well 😬
I will probably have a go at building the storage above the back, side window.
does capit all off really well
Good work 👍🏻

Just skimmed through this again, doing a great job, particularly liking the disklok mod lol.

First time i put mine on my new to me 535d it made a bit of a mess of the steering wheel, i was gutted, fortunately it sorted itself out after a day or so, made me more careful putting it on/off the t5 now though, may look at doing something similar with mine. Is it just stuck on with a carpet spray glue?

Thank you for the compliments, I'll be honest I'm doing the design work but have the use of a cnc machine and a highly skilled carpenter helping with the build 😁
With regards to the shelf above the window, there's not a great deal to fix to, so do some measuring and planning before you build. You'll have to hack off the hook on the b pillar as it'll be in the way.
Just design my sofa bed, I can see why people opt for the rock and roll versions as it's proving taxing...but I'll get there, am set of a specific design, it's making it work in the space available 🤯

Thanks Bill, it does still leave slight marks but not as bad as before.
