:( My 'velle has an anoying intermittant fault..as follows.... at any speed and gear, whether accelerating or cruising, it sometimes cuts out, usually for only a split second, when it cuts out the rev counter swings to zero and the oil light comes on. A few times now it has cut out and we've had to coast to a stop and wait 5-10 mins before it will start again. It makes no difference taking the key out and back in and it will turn over but not fire up. It's had a new coil in October last year, a new hall sender unit, new plug/coil leads dizzy cap and rotor arm and still it does it. It show no fault codes and is really starting to drive me crazy. Anyone shed some light???

mmm, sounds tricky, is everything else going well? that would be a bonus if you have no other problems and eliminate causes

sort of sounds elecrical, something is obviously happening at a certain stage, you have checked as best as, only guessing, could it be a loose connection somewhere, because it is suddenly stopping for no reason and randomly?

give all the wires a look over and make sure their not worn, attached properly, may help?T:

can not offer specialist support, other than my DIY experience:D

Thanks, I guess I'll have to check everything thoroughly and hope it's not the ecu.
It runs great, just not 100% reliable and don't fancy it stopping half way across a junction or on the outside lane of the motorway

Read an old 'VW-motoring' magazine the other day and some early (mk2 or mk3) golfs used to have the same problem, the ecu relay (pt. no. 165906381 black or grey) used to cause the same problems, and guess what?....it's the same relay on the 'velle. Haven't had chance to check it out yet though as the starter has packed in and it hasn't stopped raining for days.
