as you can tell by my user name, im new, im looking to buy a swb tdi t4 panel van and convert it,
including insualtion, ply and carpet, 3/4 rock and roll bed and unit/wardrobe down the right hand side and possibly put window in the two middle pannel
and then lowering and colour coded bumpers,
however i want to know, roughly how much this might cost,if anyone has done this before, and what sort of van i will get for up to £4,000 as thats my budget?
please help as i would love to own t4, but i want to do it properly

I bought an 02 plate 2.5TDI for £3300 and have spent nearly another £3k on windows, bed, kitchen cupboards, sink, cooker, fridge, awning, flooring, ply, lighting, etc, etc, etc. I started off with a spreadsheet that I thought included everything and it grew daily, though I'm well happy with the results. From our experience...

You can get a good t4 for less than 4k, ours was a great condition ex disbility 800 special with less than 50k on the clock!

You can insulate yourself for the cost of some bubble foil, celotex, aluminium tape and a few hours of your own time. Depending on what van you get you might be able to use the existing ply panels and carpet over them instead of getting new ones. Carpeting yourself isn't as difficult as you'd think just time consuming. Lining kit from mega van mats is 125 delivered and includes more spray glue than you could use! We bought our flooring from them too, was 56 quid.

Rock and roll bed can be as expensive as you like really, especially if you intend to carry passengers in the back in which case you'll want a pull tested one at the least. Upwards of 600 for that.

Window supply and fitting is probably going to be at least 300

Full run of units around 600 (go for T4Life, best units around - just check the reviews on here!) That's before hob/sink at about 230.

If you plan on using a bit of electricity in the can then you will need a few other things like split charge, leisure battery, lighting etc etc .

Can't tell you about colour coding etc as we haven't had it done but someone else will know!

I'm just about to start converting my T4 on a budget, might even build my own rock n roll bed as i'm a design engineer for a company that makes stainless steel and mild steel machines and stuff. Going to design it on my solidworks package and then issue out the drawings to people.

I have started to put together a list so we can always compare notes if you want?

I got my van at a bargain price of 1.5K 2000 1.9TD BLACK

Used to be a Taxi, windows through out. A good history. Just got my cousin who's a T4 mechanic to check her over. Apparently she's all good. Just service parts that needed replacing.

I have just spent £319 (down to each bolt and including tools) on the conversion! that's all. But this does not include the price of the bed.

fully insulated, re-carpeted, laminate flooring, wooden roof, kitchen unit (diy), fridge and stove.

hunt around and you can do it cheap and nice.

Hows your van conversion going? im still struggling to find the right van chassis that does not require too much work on the body before i even start converting it, im looking van trader etc and ebay (but i cant afford the vans after bidding wars)

I have to agree with Toby - the van will find you! If you look on my 2 builds, Rusty was bought but a disaster so had to let him go. However, through Rusty I found Toby and the green twin slider, and the rest is history. Costs for Greenie, all in, comes to about £4200 and I think I have a massive bargain, largely due to the cracking value that Toby offers.

I have a lwb 1.9 td abl T4 that im looking to sell ? Its been my project for the last few months but i have just swapped my car for a 2.5tdi t4 so im going to sell the 1.9 lwb one.

Still needs a bit of work but its nearly there now, it has new mot and tax and ive just rebuilt the engine with all new
Valves
Lifters
New cam
New clutch
New water pump and thermo
New cam belt kit
etc ect the list is endless if you or anyone is interested just let me no and ill tell you every think you need to no.

The paint looks in the pics but its a pearl white that changes blue in the sun and purple at night there are a couple of spots that need sorting but i have already had the paint specially made from a paint company.

im just driving my wife mad keep looking at vans (although she did say its better than me looking at porn lol), my leg is now recovering from being broken and i wanna crack on and build it, im so excited, my budget of £4000 i hope is enough to do the full task, i know about all bits i think inc cupboards from ikea and insulation, my diy skills are limited but i really wanna make my van and be happy with it for years and this forum is helping me loads

im looking for a swb 2/5 tdi in either blue or white, my friend was telling me about the x packs which look awsome but well out my price range.

i was thinking half on van half on interior of my budget.
