Hi
We have a Van Comfort (made by Polar Screens of Sheffield) and it works very well! T
I have their thermal screens for my cab area and they're excellent. The reason I went with Rainbow Screens for my rear screen and pop top covers is because I wanted them bespoke. Picture of the rear screen below. The pop top wrap is having to be remade thanks to the total inability of UPS first to deliver, and then to find what they should have delivered....

We have a Rainbow Screen and wouldn't be without it on a cold day/night. But as there is no real air flow it does get rather hot up there in the warmer days/nights to the point where it becomes a little stifling.

Out side last Feb....

Inside earlier this Jan...nice and warm:)

TimW, I think you might have your album set to private as all I can see are two grey 'no entry' icons.

Just been looking at the Rainbow pop top cover at CamperMart. They do look good, but whether they are worth the extra ÂŁ100 over the VanComfort, I'm not so sure.

Headless, that's a great photo, I'm guessing it's not in the UK (or not England anyhow)!? How do you find fitting it, could it be a one man job? Also, is there a panel that covers the back, or is it just the web straps at the back?

We've got the one from SW Campers. Seems to be very good - certainly keeps the van a LOT warmer when its cold. Not sure about keeping it cooler when its warm... You can only do a limited amount to keep the inside of a metal box cool in the middle of summer!

If I had one complaint then it'd be that its made up of 4 different sections (back/front/2 x sides) which all velcro together. Bit of a pain in the when its blowing a gale and raining but I can do it myself in a few minutes and despite having it on the roof in some really atrocious weather, its never come loose.

Another vote for Rainbow Screens.

We ordered the pop top cover and windscreen thermal one a few weeks ago after a New Year in the Van with only interior screens. Freezing, and huge amount of condensation in the van - it was't even that cold out! We went with Rainbow Screens as we wanted something bespoke and they were really helpful. The difference was amazing - we've just ordered side window and barn door ones now.

They aren't cheap but I really do think they are worth it - can't up load a photo at the mo, but our van is the one on their Facebook page with on 24th jan - silver van with orange pop top/screen cover with green eyes on it!

Owners of Rainbow pop top covers with SCA 194 roofs, advice please!

I have now got my thermal wrap, and have spent an 'interestingly' long time this afternoon putting it on the van. I am wondering what process people do to fit theirs? I basically laid mine out across the front of the van with the side pieces over each wing mirror. Then threaded each side behind the struts, thus sliding the front panel up to the front of the roof. Finally I added the separate rear panel, (which no longer has either the Velcro fixings or the buckles referred to in other posts) and then fastened the two straps across the rear, and tensioned them.

No matter how much I try, I cannot get the front panel to look smooth, and as it has a photo on it, it needs to tension reasonably smoothly. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong. The SCA roofs have a windbreak at the front, which my wrap has been tucked behind. Should it be in front? Although if so, there will be a huge gap between the front panel and the actual canvas of the pop top.

I'm a solo traveller, and it's going to be a challenge to fit this in any kind of breezy conditions, or remove it when wet without the entire thing ending up on the floor - again as happened today! So advice on removing it effectively would also be welcome!

Thanks.

Ours nearly took me away a few weeks ago when we were putting it on in a bit of a breeze.
Trying to think through doing it on your own, i would maybe put the back panel in first, then the drivers side threading the side bits in past the struts and mybe wrap the straps gently round the struts at the back to just keep in a bit in place while you do the other side. Ours sits behind the windbreak, and looks ok, but then we dont have a photo on it so I wonder if ours isn't completely smooth and we just don't see it. I find if its caught on the roof strut fixing, or one side isnt flat, or its not quite lined up with the corners it dosn't look quite right.

As for getting it down, floor is the way to go I:

Thanks for this. Floor it is for removal! :)

Second question - unless you are very tall - do you use a step or a platform to reach the roof to put the wrap on? I'm 5'4" and I couldn't reach high enough with the step I carry in the van. I had to borrow a chair from indoors! So now I am looking at taller steps, and platforms. The platform looks good in that I won't have to keep getting of it to move it down the side of the van, but it is also a lot bigger and there's the ever present issue of load space.

Solved most of the fitting problems by putting "poppers" on the inside top edge and bottom inside roof edge with corresponding ones on the insulation. Two minutes to put up just as effective as on the outside no discernible condensation issues (yet) and can be done whatever the weather is doing outside.
