Ok here goes,
I have a noise coming from engine bay when engine is stone cold. Had it for about 4 months.
Noise is worse when you turn steering wheel (like a loud clattering...)
Noise dissipates when you increase revs.
No change pressing brake pedal or clutch.
Turn on lights and noise gets worse so I'm sure its a loading issue
After about 2 minutes there is a click from the glow plug relay (felt with finger) and the noise completely disappears.Van runs fine.
The only time I get the noise is when van is cold.

I was told it was harmonic balancer or PAS pump or alternator pulley, but surely they would be noisy all the time.

I have in the last two days changed coolant temperature sensor in engine (4 pin green one) and glow plug relay.
problem still persists.

I'm at a complete loss.

Problem solved!
It was the Harmonic Balancer/Vibration Damper/Crankshaft Pulley (delete as applicable...)
Changed and now enjoying the sound of quiet running. Thanks for the advice.
