Hi all
I’m new to the forum. I recently bought a 1994 2.4 diesel ( see pic)with around 230,000 miles. The seller was honest with the niggly problems of starting. She’s just had a full service, a new cam belt (no one knew when it had last been changed) and additive added to diesel, as my garage suggested. The problem is often she will take a lot of cranking over to start. However, sometimes if you catch her right she might go on the second go. It’s so unpredictable it’s maddening. In this hot weather it’s been a real problem to start, even when warm. Guy I bought it off did say only 3 out of four glow plugs had been changed. Would it be good to start there? Any advice on this problem of starting much appreciated. Thanks

A quick question, did the van start on the button before the cambelt change? This would eliminate one potential issue.

Hiya.
No, it was always a problem. Guy said it was possibly because of the 3/4 glow plug change. I guess there’s a reason for one not being done. Looking on the forums could be fuel problem. I’ve booked Flo into aVW specialist in Bristol but any advice from you would be brilliant
