Hi guys and gals

My new Caravelle has not been owned by anyone mechanical before and it looks to have had a pump replacement at some point as it's shiny new. Having just fixed one of those tiny material covered feed pipes between the injectors, Im still running rough. I know my glow plugs need doing, but idle is quite lumpy. If I pull the advance handle out it's ok.

We were just about to go on our first road trip...can I adjust the screw on the pump (a little!) without equipment to increase revs if I first disconnect the cable to the handle on dash? Or do I have to live with it until I've got downtime to recheck cambelt/pump timing properly? It's chugging/smoking a lot at low revs from cold, great higher in the revs.
