If you cut the tubes down too far the tyres will contact the top of the wheelarch. If you can hang on I'll measure the length of my cut down tubes tomorrow, with full size rubbers they only just scuff the arch. Also if going that low you need to grind away part of the flange where the handbrake cables run otherwise it'll cut into the cable
I measured my rear bumpstop tubes at 60mm. Here's my van fully loaded for a two week holiday. It did bottom out occasionally but I put that down to the fact my shocks were doing next to no damping at the time
