I needed to fit the rear seatbelts to the c pillar in the back of my van but i couldnt find much info on fitting them. So when i done mine today i thought id take some pictures to try and help anyone else who wants to do this. I used the fitting plates from just kampers. And ordered all the bolts and fittings from vw.
The first thing i done was to feed a piece of thin wire from the hole at the top where the belt bolts to down to the large opening at the bottom where the belt reel bolts in
My original plan was to hook this wire around the metal plate at the large opening at the bottom and pull it up to the top, but when i done this there was no way of getting the bolt in!
So next i thought i could hook it into a small hole thats on the just kampers plate and pull it up that way but once again no joy.
So next i dilled a 3mm hole in one of the corners on the just kampers plate like this
Then held the plate over the top hole on the c pillar in the van so the captive nut is centered with the pre drilled hole in the van then marked through the hole i had just drilled in the plate onto the van. I then drilled a 3mm hole at this marked position on the c pillar, This is for a small self tapping screw.
Next i hooked the thin wire into the new hole in the just kampers plate at the large opening position and put a few small bolbs of adhisive on the plate.
At the top hole position on the c pillar i moved the thin wire so it now exited through the new 3mm hole in the c pillar
I then pulled the plate up from the bottom with the thin wire. Once the plate was pulled up and in position i wound the bolt into the captive nut to hold the plate in place. now that the plate was holding with the bolt i cut the thin wire off and screwed a small self tapping screw into the hole, this will hold the plate in place so you can remove the bolt to fit the seatbelt.
Should look something like this
Next i bolted the reel of the seatbelt into position in the large lower opening
Then i removed the bolt at the top (the self tapping screw was still holding the plate) and bolted the top part of the seat belt into position.
And then removed the self tapping screw. (The just kampers plate is now held in by the bolt going through the seatbelt point)
I then bolted the bottom anchor point of the seatbelt into position. There is a hole with a captive nut just below the reel of the belt at the bottom of the c pillar.
Then i put the plastic cover on the top point of the belt and a small bolts cover at the bottom anchor point and job done!
Just need to fill the small 3mm hole i drilled now.
Hope this helps anyone looking to do this job
, Its not definative its just the way i did it.
