Hi
I'm looking at fitting a double din head unit in my T4 and don't like the look of you fit it higher removing 2 of the cold air vents. Has anyone removed the strengthening bar??? If so what are the pros and cons for this
As always many thanks look forward to your answers

It has a job to do. It holds up the steering wheel for a start. It helps brace the A pillars. It helps suport most of everything on and in the dash.

Look at the pictures of the genuine VW LHD version with the box for the double din and the associated reinformenrs that are needed.

But there are a lot of very thin double DIN. Units out there now.ie they don't have a disc player (who uses discs now?) so those might be a better bet.

Thanks for the reply. The genuine LHD Version does have a double din head unit so there must be some way of doing it

Yes, you fit the double DIN strengthening bar or modify yours.

Do a search, it's been covered in depth on here before.

But actually removing it is a no no for obvious reasons.
