There is a guy on here that managed to do it (cant remember his name , not very helpful)
Alot of people including myself thought it would be massively involved and too expensive so therefore not a viable option.

I think I’ve read somewhere there is a company in London that do the retro fit using their own compressor etc under the bonnet but use the Vw instrument dials etc. Only worry is if it goes wrong and it’s not factory. Spare parts etc

It’s not as difficult as most people think and there are/were companies that specialise in it (unless they no longer operate, as most new cars have a/c?). Seem to remember Alpinair was one such.

I had almost everything replaced in a climatronic system and that was less then £2k, so just a/c would be a lot less.

I've got my 2014 T5.1 Shuttle booked in for next month with Alpinair - £1902 incl VAT. We'll see how good the quality is, and report back...

hi just got mine back from Sam at Apinair, nr Hangar lane tube in London. Mines a 2005 T5 1.9 too, went for front and rear, which takes it another £850 0n top of the £1450 cab alone BUT.....in just over a week it has not been switched off. Sam and his team are so awesome, whilst in there, my matrix was replaced by them, called me to advise if I wanted them to order part in and fit. whilst all apart, so no extra labour...just awesome and I have heating and cooling. Rear components, as the fronts aren't capable alone of cooling the vans rear, ended up under passenger double..yes, new dials on dash too, and they work unlike my originals lol...so all in all, the fact that is actually doable, imo, is more than enough reason to at the very least get the cab done and in my case as the rear too. I have a slide unit right in the way of the rear blowers and just to give you an idea of the level of professional, he worked his magic around them, so no loss of cooling, no fuss, no dramas :)
I've had retrofit cruise and parking sensors too, the vans's finally a real pleasure to drive and on the motorway, with windows up, its bliss to not have all that road noise anymore! Good luck with whatever you decide. My names Adrian , welcome to mention to Sam if you call him as I said I frequent this forum....btw takes 4+ days so be prepared and booked months in advance.

Just seen this thread and wondered How the install went?
I too am looking to get A/C fitted on my 2005 T5
After the lovely summer we've enjoyed in the UK this year, I'm really pleased we fitted a/c. It is noticeable that it takes longer to cool the vehicle - compared to a normal car - but having cool air blowing onto your face does the job. I didn't have the rear a/c fitted as per another poster, but I don't sit in the back! In my opinion, worth it - and it doesn't seem to put much strain on the engine (having remapped it to 162bhp
