Are you aware of how to adjust the intermittent delay time?

From Handbook:
wipe delay can be programmed between 1.5 and 22 secs..
switch on inter wipe and wipe once.
switch off inter wipe and then switch on again after desired delay.
the selected delay can be changed as often as required.
after switching off ignition it reverts back to a 6 sec delay

i never knew that, thanx fella A:

although effective, it sounds like a lot of ........ing about each time it rains.
unlike having a switch on the stalk to choose delay as per road conditions at any given time

Yes but that function on the Golf requires associated electronics/relays to work that function, not just plug and play mate.
No gubbins inside the stalk.

I have timed mine many times and found it different,
thinking Oh it knows how hard it's raining.

Mine doesn't revert back. It stays to whatever I set it to..........:*
