I am thinking about permanently bolting a roof box to the rear of an elevating roof. My reasons are that it will increase the overall height by less, it may reduce drag and noise and it will look neater. Is this a really bad idea?
Hi I recently had some Reimo 'active rails' fitted to my Reimo roof which run full length and come with sliding cross bars which can be positioned at any point.Take the cross bars off and the overall height in not increased. They were suppied and fitted by one of the main reimo agents at Hythe in Kent; http://www.conceptmulti-car.co.uk/ In my case the main purpose is to carry canoes or kyaks. I asked about the loading and have been told the rails will take at least 60kg (in fact when they are fitted the guys crawl all over the roof!).
The fixings are a simple S/S bolt and washer system that goes right through the roof and lining.
