Hi Experts,

I need your help to remedy a problem with my 1998 2.4L Turbo deisel T4.

The Turbo scavenge pump does not shut off when the ignition is turned off and is causing severe battery drain.

Has anyone had this issue before?
How do I cure it?
Where is it located?

I think there must be a relay that is sticking open, but have no idea where it is located.

Any ideas???

If you mean the rad fans coming on after you have stopped, this is normal.

BTW unless you have modified a 2.4D you have a 2.5 or 1.9 Turbo, the 2.4 only came in non turbo.

Apologies - it is a 2.5D Turbo.

It's not the rad fans. I can hear it humming after the ignition is stopped and it sounds like it's coming from the rear of the block by the turbo. I know it's supposed to do this for about 90 secs, but it doesn't stop and is draining the battery.

I also tried disconnecting the pump behind the rad, but I could still hear the humming.

It only stops if the battery is disconnected or the battery light indicator wire on the alternator
