It's a shortsighted Scheme by shortsighted people and means we are likely to lose classic cars right left and centre, erasing motoring History as we do it. :(:(

bunch of :* :* :* :* wasters who have no idea......they are destroying the future business of breakers and old classic cars....

:* waste....this is a subject that gets me very annoyed, total waste of good quality, well built cars...

Trying to make us drive round in new cars ad make us all feel guilty about driving older ones...

well all i can say is :* you....will love and drive old cars cuz there better than the poorly built :* new ones...

Even if i won the lottery there is nothing i would want to buy new, would have a garage full of old cars...

RETRO CARS.....BECAUSE NEW CARS ARE :*

i know of a dealership (not one of hours as its a car place) having wacky racers with the scrapped cars, crashing them into each other and making sure they are scrap before they get put onto the lorries to be removed, sounds like it could be fun.......

from the scrapmans point of view a lot of them have contracts with big dealerships to take all the scrappage cars, and its not worth risking losing there bread and butter by selling us a vehicle
when the log book is handed to the office they log on to the elv side of dvla and enter reg number and validation code from log book and vehicle is removed completely from dvla

as i posted on a thread i started about this a few weeks back it winds me up also,at my friends yard they had 2 cars come in from ford dealership over a 3 day period

1st one was a 1983 y reg cortina crusader estate 2.0 21000 miles with full history, all mots, all old tax discs etc in a folder on passengers seat, this was mint and i mean mint condition

2nd one was a 1989 f reg,1600 gl 4 door mk4 escort,black,26000 miles,same as cortina all bills/history/etc on passengers seat,this had never been welded,not even a scratch on it

they both came with a similar background where 2 elderly couples had decided with £2000 scrappage now was a good time to buy a new car that would see them through the rest of there lives, little did they know that the fiesta/ka that they bought will give them no end of problems

the only bonus is the goverment money for scrappage scheme is about to run out
