Hi Guys

I am trying to locate a switch panel for my 12v electrics and can only find items that look like they belong in 1970's caravans or on a canal boat.

Am I using the wrong search words or not looking in the right places? - tried ebay, this forum, chandlers, caravan and camping suppliers recommended through the forum etc

Is there anything out there that will be more in keeping with the modern lights and the interiors etc that we use?

Ideally, I would like something with about 6 switches and possibly a battery gauge.

Any help much appreciated, especially pics and recommendations.

Many thanks in advance.

I built this for my van:

Used the following bits:

Carbon fibre look plastic sheet from http://www.ukplastics.co.uk/4mm_abs_carbon_fibre_sheet.htm

Switches from http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/home/homepage.php

Red back-lit voltmeter off fleabay. The company I got it from doesn't seem to exist anymore, though I'm sure there are plenty of other types on fleabay.

Fuseholders from maplin or somewhere (can't remember now). Blanking plugs from work ;).

I'm pleased with it and I think it looks much more contemporary than off the shelf stuff (and was probably significantly cheaper).

Cheers

Many thanks for the replies guys!

Loving the very sexy unit made by kitinglard (not sure I am upto replicating this myself!) and the truma bits recommended by daithi.

I'll let you know how I get on and what I go for - currently experiencing cash flow issues so the next stage of the build might have to wait until next pay day!

Thanks to all for help and ideas/inspiration.

In case anyone is interested, I've come across these on ebay:

item no: 250415590542 a very well priced voltmeter and

380124684304 a nice looking fused switch panel that, although it's meant for a boat, doesn't look like it's from a barge.

Together with a *** lighter socket or two this will probably do for me.

Thanks again for replies.
