Hi

I am seriously considering loosing my T4 and getting a T5.

I can just about afford to go new and would get a 140 Kombi from a dealer.

What do I need to know that they are not going to tell me?

Are these reliable? Will I regret it?

What probs have people had either with the van or from a dealer?

I know they look the nuts but am I setting myself up for problems.

Until recently my T4 hasnt missed a beat but I am starting to loose confidence in it.

Any tip or advice gratefully received.

I have a 140 kombi which is now 18 months old . I had it new from Birmingham and can't see why you would worry.
Plus points

No mot for 3 years
New everything so brakes and tyres should last 2 years
Warranty

Bad points


You loose money






Ive been there and done the t4 bit but had to move on as i need reliability for work

I too bought a new kombi in March 2012. It has been excellent, never needed any warranty work & so far has cost £170 for an oil change.
Plus points, you will feel good for a year whilst it is new.
Minus point, you will be paranoid about parking it next to tatty cars!
If you don't like the losing lots of money issue, nearl new from a dealer is a good option.

I bought a second hand T5 140 Kombi 2010 and had one year of worry free warranty covered motoring. Unfortunatly the warranty has expired and I've had the following bills

EGR Value Replacement £333
Rear Brake Pads £180
Full Service + Mot £350

Drivers side drive shaft 30% warn on last MOT
Cam belt and water pump next year
Tyres

I am quite shocked at the price of things being new to the T5 world but I still love driving it. I'm used to old bangers and scrap yards.

Go for it, you can't take money with you when you go!

Yea, I never let dealers do brake pads, it's an easy DIY job

Hmmm, I just about trust myself to put oil in (fortunately not often)!
