Either way - the main jist of it is we have designed side facing beds in the past, they work similarly in the same way as our standard beds (as in easy to operate) but there is some work to be carried out on a few profiles before were 100% happy with it - then it's a matter of jigging it all up and pricing them. Once that is done they will be going into production - just been bogged down the last few weeks at work due to having too many vans around once it's all quietened down a bit (and we're not in on weekends!) then I will spend a few weekends on this bed design idea we have in mind
But as I mentioned in the pm's to a few is that the bed will not be released untill we are 100% satisfied with it.
Hopefully I'll get some chance to post up some updates somewhere along the lines ......
Looks like there are plenty of ways to a decent diy job on this. I designed my own with 2 side benches making a full width bed and storage under each bench.
Have a look in my build album for pics (link in my signature below).
There's a converter on the forum who does some great work. Mike at MI Campervan Conversions has a sticky post in the 'Conversion' section plus loads of how to videos on YouTube. The quality of his work is there to see and I've only seen good reports. This link should get you to a bed build that will do what the OP is after:-
