Hi All,
I'm a 21 year old student and have just about been able to afford my first project, a T4!
She is mechanically pretty sound but needs a fair bit of work on the body which im hoping to do myself.
Im looking to have it resprayed at a later date when i can afford it but don't mind it looking like a patchwork toy until then.

Can anyone give me any advice on how best to attempt the repairs? My current plan is to go panel by panel doing the following:
1. Sand back any rust etc to bare metal
2. Treat with Kurust
3. Filler if needed
4. etch primer
5. High build primer
6. Sand back then finish with a generic automotive black spray paint to seal

Any advice is much appreciated!

David

For basics sounds about right till you can get it done in the future, van dont look to bad as it is .sometimes your better off with a ratlook van than a badly repaired van.

I would leave the panels until you’re ready to spray but I would recommend going for the places vans do rust.
have a look at your front arches, around the doors, sliding door foot step, around the windscreen, rear bumper mount and rear shock top mounts. Spend your time and energy in those places.
