Having decided that it's a pain in the backside using internal screens from Just Kampers due to the suckers always falling off, I decided to go for the exterior ones, Big Mistake! There's a bit of a breeze down in Devon tonight and the things are useless, shall be returning on Monday!

The internal JK thermal mats are one of the two items that made me start the topic 'are t4 owners a soft touch'

If JK had just designed the gap a tad wider in the sucker stem they would snap in and not fall out. It's like they got bored half way through designing them and thought F it, that will do :*

It seems that people just accept they are not going to do the job they were designed for perfectly, and what is worse is there is no better alternative.

If someone designed some thermal mats that fitted 'inside' the frames, and had suckers that did not fall off EVERY time they are used they would make a lot of money T:

I wonder what this post would have read if it wasn't 1.07am when it all seemed to go wrong? :*

I agree JK external screens are a poor fit but I always put my wipers on top also plus I have put eyelets in front and side screens and use a tie around door mirrors, and they are about half the cost of the only other ones I found.

Funny old world, only ever had good products and service from JK, although having seen how good 'siverscreen' windscreen covers were, I avoided the buy cheap buy twice scenario on this occasion.

As already said, it really shouldn't be that hard to make a decent fitting screen for a sensible price, because Silverscreens really do pull your pants down, but I knew it was something that drive me nuts if it didn't work properly, so stumped up.

I've switched to jk external screens and find them to be far better than the internal type, just put wipers on them

We got some Van Comfort internal screens....they are the best thing we have ever bought, super thermal and they do not slip, move peel off in the night and are super thick and block out the light too, they do a made to measure service which I highly recommend, cannot speak highly enough about these....we have a full set for all the windows..we keep the rear on and the side ones on all the time and they NEVER fall off...they have wire rings round the suckers because they stick so well its the only way to remove them, they are German made and they are just fantastic, they come with a carry bag and don't ever soak any condensation up....just brilliant..T:

I've been using the JK internal screens for months now to keep the worst of the sun out in Eastern Europe where the temperate has topped 40 degrees at times. I have had no real problems with the suckers, they come undone occasionally but you just need to moisten them a little prior to fixing. They could be better, but they also could be a lot worse. If I had exterior ones they would just get nicked.

It was quite windy last night, but despite trying to hold down the external ones with wipers, the wind got underneath by the mirrors and I found it wrapped over the roof this morning. I have a plan though, I bought a popper kit and some elastic in Barnstaple so going to attach some for the mirrors and also to strap round the wipers, might have to wait til I get home to do though.

I sewed in Velcro straps on the screen and side panel so I could join them through the wing mirrors. If it's really windy ill strap a tent line from mirror to mirror across the screenT:

Jk internal thermal things are probably the most dissapointing retail purchase i have ever made. They are not realy the right size or shape. The suckers that hold them in place are a night mare they are hard to put back into the metal rings, but fall out constantly. Unless it is hot enough to fry an egg on your dashboard the suckers are to hard and dont stick for very long. Cheaply and baddly made. Not cheap to buy though.

Putting these up when you have had a long drive sends my blood pressure through the roof.

A mate of mine took a visit to wickes and got all he needed to knock up something better for a fraction of the cost and a few hours effort.

So many vw aftermarket specialist parts are just . I would happily pay double for the jk thermo mats if the quality fit and finish was there.

This is the point, when you dont have much spare cash it is gutting to find you have wasted it on something that constantly dissapoints.
