Hi out there! I’m a complete novice and am about to embark on a T5 conversion. I’m going to use 2mm dodo sound deadening and 6mm insulation with a final fleece layer. Can you help me with quantity required for a LWB and any resources that might be useful. YouTube is full of advice but too vast to trawl every post. Any help appreciated. Thanks

You'll find you don't need as much sound deadening as you think. Just needs to be on the bigger panels and around the front cabin. Don't use the silver foil bubble wrap stuff - it's total ****....

Sound deaden first, run any wiring or pipes etc... then insulate and cover...

Take your time, it doesn't have to look pretty on the inside, it's gonna get covered with 4way stretch fabric...

Morning mate and welcome , i think quantity is down to how thorough you want to be .
From memory we used 160 sheets (4 bulk packs) of silent coat on a swb but did the whole place end to end,top to bottom .
Some people dot the bitumen around and theres a calculation about how much you use and how much you gain if you add more.
10mm closed cell foam over the top and then recycled bottle stuff over that wherever possible.
None of this stuff you see but hopefully it makes the difference.

I can highly recommend speaking to the guys at Harrisons Trim Supplies - they supply all the stuff you need (sound deadening, insulation, 4-way stretch carpet, adhesive etc.) and will be able to tell you how much you need for a LWB and sell bulk deals etc. - how much you need will depend on how many windows you have in the back and if you're wanting to do the roof and floor or just deaden behind the side panels.

Many of the converters put little time/money into soundproofing and insulation cuz its not nice and shiny and doesn't sell vans .
Its the stuff that makes all the difference though.
Me and the missus quite enjoyed doing our van but get a roller to flatten the silent coat down else you end up with hundreds of tiny cuts in your finger tips ;).

Old pic now but this is our cab floor.
Pay particular attention to arches and bulkhead .

anyone added insulation to their sliding door and noticed a big difference? I’ve done the floor and walls, but the sliding door still feels like a cold spot and a bit noisy. Wondering if it’s worth the hassle or if other spots should take priority. Would love to hear what others have tried.
