Bless ya bud, damn nowt keeps her down pal thank you for the thoughts..........I'd be a jibbering wreck lasses are just strong !!

I've got me straps H.my chippy mates sorted me with some bright purple stuff:love:🤣 one could probably lift a bus with let alone a 20kilo batt..hmm and they bagged 'em folded 'em zip tied 'em and even popped in van 'cause I was on a mission.....I bought a kelly kettle delux set and a bag for the loo,so was on a guilt trip to replenish funds and running around like a XXXXX more than normal. Damn there are some lovely folks out there H

Shaz said the same ( your last line mate).......i'm working on that one..maybe they'll be a way to lift batt in and out and also secure.not worked it out yet.

Ta on leccy.................I'm not happy with mega fuse holder, probably going to try for a blue sea cube on the +ve terminal.work in progress.......

Want a break H ( read need) ,but really want to get bus done then have break...ha tis gonna be wicked..

wicked is worth waiting for(y)

Oh ferkin #eck.............. forgot.............ya know ickle red froggie that ya saw coming out of the water a while back.................well the more little one has grown the more it's looked like it's dad....now we call Dad " Bruiser" cause for what it a teeny tiiny red froggie he is a beast...of a teeny tiiny red froggie( ok orange froggie).............

.Anyways little one is closing in on his dad for size now not there get ,but has all the makings of a baby bruiser....................and yesterday once his Dad's back was turned and I had me 'ead down in camper leccy.....Shaz clocked him calling

Ha now we look hard....see too long and dad might kill him.move too soon and he won't have the effect on some milf 🤣 I have liined up for him. he sort of has to be boss ...get it right though and damn he's going to have a party

Cool stuff little one is a boy and that's what I needed and a strong un at that !!

Yeah bro that's the hope.Put it this way we should all hope for more ickle red froggies in the near future so they can be put in others hands ......I'll take in the medium future H. There are some mean big egg laying machines to be delt with buddy Baby Bruiser has to be able to cope with being hen pecked.or of sorts

fine lines bud................ fine fine lines

H............... Pete's alive....well I fink so..it might have been spam...I'll evaluate over the coming days

but fink so ;)

 I know some of my posts may be a little daft, other are comedic gold (yeah I saw your posts in the t'other thread chaps 😋) but I have never been labelled as spam, been called a lot of other names over the years, hilarious, funny, smart, handsome, intelligent...are just some of the names I've never been called 😂

H.....2 posts ....disrupted by a wayward ferret first it's frog porn then Pete's bedroom......do we need to have a quiet chat matey? God it's horrible having to be THE adult

Never called ya spam Pete kinda always saw ya as a marinated corn beef......where on earth do these ideas come from???????? Is marinated CB even a fing? 🤣

anyway I'm not gonna rise to the bait I'm back to being utterly serious on my wonderful ( read desperate) incredibily fast moving build thread.................We got our mad " Kelly kettle ultimate base camp kit" today....good init

https://www.outdoorgear.co.uk/Kelly...p-Kit-Stainless-Steel-sku53107001.asp.....you can what genuine americanized vids for free too

and even though I've bought a megafuse and holder and have known about cube fuses for ages, I simply never felt confident about using the cube,as the main batt fuse.dunno what has made me more confident but I've said sod it........I think it's that same ol same o of why doesn't everyone do this....right I'm being brain dead and have missed something :(

See as said before to me this bonkers SB leccy is a ramped up version of a T 5 interior design only involving heat 'n' leccy ,everything is about function form and space only in an even tinier space..but it's the same gig

the cube fuse mounts to +ve batt terminal...so no unprotected cable what so ever and it's terribly small compared to a mega fuse 'n' holder.......seems like a no brainer

So much I don't understand.fun init

Marinated corn beef, ahh thanks Stu 😁

How exactly are you being the adult when in the next sentence you're calling me marinated corn beef? 🤣 Granted you didn't quite rise to the bait, however you lowered to out level!

To get back on track for a moment, I've been looking at your leccy install, firstly I'm very impressed considering as you say the small space you're working in, secondly not really got a scooby doo what much of it is which is a shame as putting electrics into my van would be great.

You can't be too far off being able to head off for a night or two surely?

H. yeah I know 🤣 🤣 🤣 Pete read dis as well then I'll come back

.got to pop all cupboards back in...............that means I can locate the control panel on wall then wire it then locate mains batt charger on wall then wire pos and neg into that. run 240 cable from consumer unit. That's next steps H....that means I think..repeat think I can connect batt and fire up all blue gizmos.....think that's it H..........everything else will come later and is all 12V DC circuits but that hopefully is the base of it mate.................I'm trying to be inordinately respectful of what that batt can do H so want all those circuits off the midi mega FB sorted. then test then install batt pop seats back.rhinos ordered...rip out RIB finally glue rear cupboard together wire in lighting circuits and in stall.......pop RIB back in.'erm I fink..need to start pondering wallas installation and space to work in about here??? install and glue up middle cup B 'n' front one around now ........really want RIB bolted back in before dropping tank for wallas to sender unit. once tank back in install front units complete wiriing to WP finish fitting walls pop fridge in hole 'n' wire.........wire lights into bread bins...now getting damn close to finish

Can't grab the hours at this time to push Pete.the above is a base outline though of pre camping trip dunno how long bro want it done yesterday but REALLY can't rush these leccy steps, have to be not brain dead and serious on a huge scale

LOL I should be the adult mate cause of me age....but hey whaddya do;)

Pete real brief real simples

MPPT ( solar charge controller) is just basically a gizmo to control the volts/ current the solar panel produces and lets the batt get charged how it likes being charged
mains batt charger takes 240V ok probably 230V steps it down to 12V.and again charges the batt how it likes beiing charged

B2B does similar really,I see it as sort of turning your engine into a genny to charge your leisure batt by harvesting amps from your alternator via the van battery

Inverter simply steps your 12volts from leisure batt up to 230 volts.so one can plug in smaller lower wattage house hold appliances into the bus off grid

pos and neg bus bars are simply a hub a distribution center if ya like for each side of the batt so one doesn't have loadsa wise on the actual batt terminals

shunt measures leccy very accurately goes on the neg side tells us some of what's happening can be linked to a screen like the BMV 712

As above buddy very simplistic view of what these tools do which I hope give you a base understanding.

Remember that water analogy.......... flow of electrons is liike water.cable too small = pipe too small= problems.in leccy world cable get's too hot we protect cable runs with fuses cable too small again like pipe flow of water only in leccy it equals voltage drop
Put 2 pipes into a bucket of water buck fills faster + using the MPPT and the B2B at same time to charge batt........they don't mess with each other.the batt just charges faster
Good strong connections or pipes burst..same with leccy good clean strong connections or ya get heat build up

Very simple Pete does that help

Oh lads hedgey hog in front garden right now as I write coolest thing.here for a drink.pop a bowl of water out for the little guys............ right now times are hard !!

Thanks for this Stu, it does makes things easier to understand, just wouldn't trust myself trying to wire up my van. At college part of my engineering course was electronics, basic circuit boards with resistors, led diodes (iirc) over 20 year ago now so things are different, anyway to help show how I just couldn't get along with electrics, I would almost every time burn the circuit board and knacker the components resulting in toys being thrown from pram "I'm not playing any more" 😂

Once I've sored the next gen on furniture I may revisit electrics and properly apply my limited mind set, would be nice to just plug in although my hook up gang is working well this far, just a pain having an orange cable threaded through a window and round the inside of the van like electrical ivy.

Stu you have the patience of a saint Sir, the amount of times you take time out and try to explain this wizardry to me 👏 Was watching a resto program last night and they were building a wiring loom for a Lotus Esprit on a peg board, talk about mind blown mate! Some serious talent and mind power to do that, I struggle with snakes and ladders at times!

Like the sound of your plan though, the end is certainly much closer now, keep up the hard / excellent work!

Dat's the point init mate...........to try an elp each other along .ha I'm told that patience lark when trying to explain sommit. often..it isn't patience mate I'm just ferkin stubborn🤣.but you are welcome. Pete I honestly think this leccy is worth diggin at.........lets wait 'n' see whether it works though bro before ya listen to me..............if it does then cool I can walk ya through stuff if it don't.well I won't bug you guys anymore

tis all win:cool::ROFLMAO:

Ok my rhino's have arrived.. Ta H I'm too shattered to open 'em but me QR seats are back on bases to get ready for the 'morrow wood work install an leccy stuff.....this is silly cool as Ii was meant to be grafting and getting a family moved into their crackiing new huge houses, but they aren't ready yet so I get another bus day

funnier is my cancelled asked for a refund magnet an fuse order came on the same day as the 2nd attempt order.............

oh an it gets better................ seen as the loo bag was too big poppet made me order the right size and decided our pillows could be stored in the big loo bag:rolleyes:

lets face it when you have been with a lass for 40 years ya know she's always right....but it's fair to say I did have a moment🤣

Patience or stubborn, either way very my appreciated (y)

A lot of it makes sense, just the parts required and how to link it altogether is baffling. I'll certainly bear it in mind when building the next set of furniture, want to make better use of space and be able to retro fit bits, like power and maybe plumbing.

How's the progress been over the weekend Stu?

Soz slow bro. tis ruddy mental...................linking is fairly straight forwards Pete ya need a big enough cable to carry amps and ya check voltage drop on a volts drop calculator once ya have worked out how long a cable run ya need......like this one bro

There's some damn good reading on that site Pete and videos

Progress fair mate painstaking but fair.ha I don't half bosh the hours an not go very far...........funny as

The mains charger is installed plug lead shortened socket wired to 2.5mm artic that links back to 6A mcb ( micro circuit breaker in consumer unit like in a house) I have 2 circuits 6A MCB for batt charger 16A for 2sockets)

The 10mm cable is also wired which takes the 12volt feed to the bus bars and eventually the batt....................mate I'm gonna put this another way for ya it might just make a penny drop

Leccy comes from your mains plug it flows down ya EHU cable an into the bus,,,,,,,,,,,,it then goes into the consumer unit through a residual circuit device RCD ( a safety gizmo) and splits into 2 circuits.......ie the MCB's more safety......with me mate hope this don't sound patronizing bro,I'll slay ya 🤣 but just now trying to be real simple so ya get it.

So our leccy now flows down our artic cable at 230V to our mains charger........the charger changes the voltage to 12V and does fancy stuff we won't worry on............the leccy then flows down the red +Ve cable to the +ve bus bar..where it meets a fuse......roughly we fuse at 1.25X the amps in the cable....so I have a 20A charger so I'll use a 30A fuse

In my case Ii've used a midi mega fuse holder, which is also me positive bus bar ( bus bar is like a hub right ) We fuse close to our batt...so me bus bar is close to me batt

The leccy flows through the fuse and down a much bigger thicker cable towards the batt actually a 40MM cable in my case. Now we have got to protect that thicker cable so we have another bigger fuse. an we also need a means to switch batt off which is called an isolator We need a bigger cable cause this is going to carry all the leccy from the battery to everythiing on the positive side

so our leccy now 12V flows into the batt and charges it then comes out the other side......the negative which is basically our 0V circuit to our negative bus and eventually to our chassis ground

Real base Pete open to correction from others like Andy or H or Anyone I ain't a sparks.........I'm just trying to get a penny to drop bro sow a seed........... let ya sort of have sommit to ponder to work into mate to sort of see in your head......................an anyways you've got another 4 or 5 builds to work through yet so there's plenty of time for a seed to grow:love: Oh god I really did try but it was always coming🤣

Right back to bus

The mains chrger is snuck in behind the shell door right behind drivers seat above solar isolator mate..so it's visible I planned this an eon back so it's been so slow in wiring cause I've tried to do it as descretely as possible....anyways bro thats done.........I've got some pics mate will share soon need to crash and survive tomoz

The cupboards are in part back in....so I could place that charger spot on.....then place the plinth control panel thing spot on.......This has also allowed me to secure the wallas an fridge cables as an aside with rubber P clips

the plinth has thenn been secured to the carpet covered board with3 M8 type D wood insert nuts

I've made a swanky cover which sits in the rear bread bin....hmm there's a funny on that un' I'll share shortly...which hides the cables running down through and behind said locker and thats been secured..same method with just one fixing

The 2.5mm artic from inverter runs into a 1 in 2out junction box feeding 2 sockets..and was the most humongous faff to wire.......I've used 2way ferrules on the out single ferrules on the in side and the inverter control is also wired again using ferrules

The same will happen with the mains hook up sockets

The sum total off all that basically mate is I'm a hair away from having every circuit running off the battery wired...............which means I'm closing on being able to connect the roamer up..ou side the seat base for mo mate so I can test..........and then set everything up victron wise

The only bits really not wired are the 12 volt circuits......those run off a second fuse box Pete not the mega midi one a 12 way FB which is connected to the mega midi.again with it's own fuse

So I can test that 12way DC FB with my existing (we call 'em the space ship lights) or the fan to cool the B2B for that matter

Oh and have got a cube fuse instead of the mega as it's smaller and also leaves no cable unprotected. to run off +VE batt terminal

@64SPLIT................H look for a W1209 temp sensing relay with probe...................it's a remarkable little gizmo mate..........you can set your own on off temps and have a digital display......... bought mine for under a tenner buddy I'll show ya it soon I think you have a pic of me fan mate? I'm seriously impressed with the fan H...................... damn it shifts some air !! I've had it all working H but untill that batt is wired I can't add the B2B into the equation . Incidentally the seat RIB swivles have a damn big hole front and back.so should be good for airflow

I might have to play with the relay settings H but I've mounted it in the SB . Basically I was going to pop it on the wood back of base and enclose in some fancy box,but I'm worried it will get clattered.........work in progress there

Oh an as an aside we have been wondering 'cause we have the pop top,if we miight just beable to drop the complete rear cupboard in over the wheel arch without taking the RIB bed out whiich would be huge if we can..time will tell....................

will get some pics up I simply don't have time right now H if ya can't find that relay I'll find a link for ya must crash mate !!

be lucky both(y)

That's about it really lads

Then I've

Excellent - cheers for that Stu. I'd gone for a bit of a search on the old tinterwebs and came up with exactly the same temp sensing relay gubbins so that's reassuring to know.
Where abouts have you mounted the sensor probe? And do you need to physically attach it to the Victron? Also - where did you get your fan from?
My bro-in-law used to fix laptops n computers as a bit of a side hussle, so I'm hoping he might have a spare case fan kicking about in his box of spares that I can pinch. If not, I need to find something decent that's gonna shift some air.

Looking forward to seeing some progress pics. Sounds like you're nearing completion 😁 👍

Blimey Stu that's some next level explaining there, especially after all the grafting you do, and I'll be honest it makes a lot more sense and certainly has given me something to think about for the next build, or 5 ;)

There'll be an even worse shortage of ply if I keep starting over though, got to think about the environment right 😂

Also the "just now trying to be real simple so ya get it "...have you been sneaking a look at my old school reports and exam results? Teachers always said I was special 🤔

Also you say you put the hours in but don't get very far, I think you're doing yourself an injustice, working on your own often in cramped spaces, and with the attention to detail it's not going to be quick, better to take the time and get it right, especially with electrics...that much I do know.

Fingers crossed the rear cupboard slots in without having to remove the seats, all sounds tantalizingly close now.

Thanks for the right up again Stu, so much food to thought now I'm stuffed 😁

H Pete brief early finish wanna crack on jees I'm wasted....Anyways H....here's a linky to the exact fan I bought...only the price seems to have gone up.....mate tell me if I'm endangering myself showing ya a link like this would ya I'm a bit naive with these things(y) Mate if I am we need 'em deleted somehow ? Might need your help there

relay mate

Not yet sure on mounting probe H............see to me it just wants to be located in the top of the heat sink fins.not necessarily touching..........we both figure the ali mount we have used is going conduct heat so realistically the whole shebang is gonna warm up......actually pondering holding it with a tiny blob of teseron ( like sikkafix it's incredibly strong what I used to bond solar panel) H.... it's ( probe ) only light an tiny so a tiny blob will hold it and I'd be able to cut it off and remove teseron if it doesn't work out......thoughts bro ???????

For a tenner 20notes including relay I'd just say sod it and get new.. very impressed with fan H figure it's a tad noisey but B2B is only gonna be used when driving ,so I doubt it will bother me tis also compact and fitted where I needed .....mind I've a few more AH's about bud so the 2.4A van doesn't worry me...........I've used the H circuit on B2B to hopefully add in a manual cut off H....I might have mentioned that....I've taken an unorthodox route in taking feed from LB.'cause of me using the load output to charge van batt...don't know how this will work out yet mate.....so killing a couple of birds with one stone

Pete ha soz so long just to add in neg bus bar not only goes to earth but obviously returns the 0V black cable back to charger........really shattered bro soz mate...we help each other in our own ickle ways Pete and have a crack it's the point of it all init(y):D

Getting there lads..off to wire a couple a plugs hopefully will come back later with at least a few piccies
