All,
Just been given some shocking news....
I have a 2013 Caravelle with 85,000 miles on the clock with mainly Motorway miles, I have / had a slight clunk when going into first or reverse, so I thought I would give it some love and take it to the VW garage rather than my trusted local garage.
The VW garage had it for 4 days and came to the conclusion that the splines are worn down and this is causing the initial "Clunk" - they have packed the splines/joints ith grease and the Clunk has now gone - but they say it is just masking the issue.
So with regards to a fix.... they have said that they could send it away to a gearbox specialist and get it re-conditioned and that this would cost around ÂŁ2,000 or I would need a new gear box which is around ÂŁ5,000
I nearly p00ed myself at these costs, now the questions I would love some answers / suggestions to are :
My local garage contacted their Gearbox guy - who happened to be the same guy as VW and he told them to stay away from getting it fixed as he just can't get the parts !!!!
Seems that I am not going to have a very merry Xmas this year :*
Please - advice / suggestions
Regards
Neil.

- Has anyone else had this issue and had it fixed
- Are the prices quoted fair / reasonable
- If I don't get it fixed right now - whats the worse that could happen ( would it just require a new gearbox ?)
