Hi All,

The most infuriating sound has started on my 2011 T5.

I've seen a few similar posts in here but nothing that hits the nail.

Whenever the van has been driving for 5-10 minutes, the squeaking / creaking begins when the steering wheel is turned, but also when the clutch is pushed in.

The sound doesn't happen when turning the steering wheel while stationary, however the clutch being pressed still does create the sound.

Video of the sound here

Pivot joint on the steering shaft?
Steering rack bearings?

Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

Cheers.

I had this on my 2012 transporter. It was really easy to sort - spray some grease at the bottom of the column where it goes into the floor. (You may have to lift up the mat slightly to get good access) Once I had done this, it was all sorted and stopped squeaking.

Thanks JimJim, appreciate that!

I did try this and sprayed WD-40 around the area, seemed like it helped briefly but now the noise is back...

Is there a particular type of grease / lubricant you would suggest?

Cheers
