Hi all, I picked up my first van 2 weeks ago, and have set about converting it to something usable to transport gear, but also usable as a camper.
As a student, this is going to be a super budget conversion! I'l try and keep a running total!

Here's the van as i got it:

A bit banged up on one side, but the photo doesnt fancy uploading!
100,000 miles, not bad for a grand! :)

Used by a carpenter so full of rubbish inside!

Hoover out, and remove the half hearted ply lining!

Insulation in! (a vapour barrier went up aswell before carpeting!)

After the carpet went up, next was the side bench/bed:

Then, the floor and roof:

The roof is held in with bottle-top washers:

Costs so far:
Van: £1000
Cambelt: £240
Carpet: £30
Glue: £20
Hardboard: £15
Wood: £50
Screws: £10
Floor: free (left over form the house!
Roof: free, left over bamboo blind!

The first cupboard went in last night, but it was too dark for pictures, so they'll follow soon!

The insulation was about £20, probs enough to do most of the van again! B&Q.

The carpet is special for vehicles, so i guess is as fire proof as most others, No doubt, the roof is pretty flammable, but not much more so that the hardboard that is supplied as a factory fit, also, Ive not got a cooker in there at the mo, so not so much of a worry!

Love it... That's what I love about a budget build, ok so it might not be ultra modern, but it's usable. But the most important part is its your van....every creditT:
