So im having problems with my van knocking and smoking, the smoke is gray and smells like diesel.
Ive timed the fuel pump (with a dti) next step was the injectors.....
I ordered a injector repair kit so i could get the van up and running again.
Once the kit arrived i found the injectors in my van were completely different and seems like someone has put 2.5 tdi injectors in my 1.9td.
Im so confused is this a thing or a bodge??
Please help

mecanical throttle setup?

is the cam-cover parallel or sculpted to miss the injectors?

if you are unsure, upload a photo of the enginebay & we can have a lookseeT:

if parallel then an ABL /1X code engine (if t4 original)

if sculpted then sounds like a tdi base engine - ie. a 1Z / AHU /AFN code engine.

if its a tdi engine then thats been transplanted into the van, if it has a mecanical throttle then this would account for some issues as the 'tdi' injectors have a higher 'break' pressure than the 'idi' injectors (so an 'idi' injection pump does not supply sufficient pressure to poerate the injectors properly - if you google then you'll find more infoA: )
