I brought this van on the 20 December as an interim vehicle as my LWB T4 was written off, http://www.vwt4forum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=100886to enable me take my time finding a replacment. I have now got the replacement quicker than I had expected to and so this is now up for sale, it has been been reliable in the short time I have had it.

Bad points the exhaust is blowing and the 5th gear does not work, goes in no crunchng or noise, but no drive?

Fifth gear has more than likely fell off inside the box, its a common issue with these gear boxes hence why you have no drive in fifth. It happened to me with my 2.4 too but i ended up replacing the gearbox because i also eventually ended up loosing 3rd and 4th gear too.
I would have come to have a look at this but cornwall is way too far to travel just to come and look
