Hi

I am looking for a van to spend a good couple of years in traveling around europe and what not, I want to do my own conversion so looking for a simple van but needs to be strong and reliable.

I have been looking for a LHD but are hard to get over here and with the euro being strong seams more money to buy in Germany etc.

So! should I get a T4 or T5? tell me what's so good about the T5.

I can get a 1999 T4 2.5TDi with around 100k on clock for about 3 - 4k
I have seen T5 1.9 TDi with around 100k on the clock for around 5 -6K
would it be worth the extra money?

Cheers guys

It's a no brainer - get the T4 and use the change to create the van you want and enjoy your travels :ILU:

So Guys, what is so bad about the T5(I have a T4 2.5tdi) in your experience?

The service manager at my local vw van centre even told me T5s

are not even close to the T4 but what are the problems with them or is it just general build quality?

If you like tow trucks, buy a t5.

This is an old thread:)

I have now moved to the dark side, it pains me to say it. But i miss the old T4.

However both have their merits.

If we was doing a serious length of time abroad i would ditch both and invest in something bigger like a Crafter. T4&5 ok for a fortnight trip/weekends, but no way i would want to do 6 weeks+ in oneT:
