Hi we are looking to but our first camper. Saw a 2002 T4 Cali Generation today for £18k with reasonably high mileage, all service history and recent work done including clutch, cam belt, fabric on pop top. Feels like a lot. Any help most welcome. Thanks?

Mine is an ex AA van 1999 model and already converted by previous owner, tin top, alloy wheels, cupboards, sink, leisure battery, electric hook up, r&r bed etc and registered as a motor caravan, I know its a conversion and not built as a camper from new, but it was less than 5 grand. I don't know what you get with a cali, check number plate on https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/Default.aspx to see what the VED is, mine is a 2.5TDI with intercooler but because it is pre 2002, VED is £230 per year. The rules changed in 2002.
I only bought this two months ago, it has 193,000 miles on the clock but I am told that is less than half of what the T4s are capable of. Hope this helps.

Just noticed you are in London, you will need a petrol model to be compliant with LEZ or spend a couple of grand on filters to make an old diesel compliant.

Top end t4's like the Cali are big money and worth the extra IMO, as they will hold their value, have quality fixtures and fittings, and are so much more than converted panel vans.
How many miles has it covered ?

Mine is a 1999 model AA van but I knew it couldn't go into the LEZ when I bought it, if I ever venture into that area, which I don't, very often, it will be in my petrol car and on a Sunday to avoid the congestion charge.

Cheaper T5 if your not worried about it being a Cali

My money I think i'd buy this tbh at that price range.
Brand new conversion never been used.

A design classic...

Imagine slumbering inside the GRP loft on a balmy summers eve, smugly ruminating on the value of your purchase whilst somebody voids their fundament into the Thetford below :D
