Hi all,

This is my first post to the Forum, bought a 2004 T5 a round a year ago and really love it.

It has a standard bench seat mounted in it. The question I have is - Can the mounts be placed further back towards the tailgate? I'd like to be able to move the seats to the rear so I create a space to get changed ect at bike races.

I've attached a couple of pictures below to try and show what I have, any help much appreciated!

Thanks
Ed.

That looks like a 3rd row seat anyway so you could certainly move it back to where it would naturally be in a Shuttle. FYL fitting the floor reinforcement plates though, and you'd need different seat belts too.

Ah cool, I’m not going to transport people when the seats are set back so would hopefully avoid the problem of seatbelts. I assume that is a very specific position the brackets would need to be mounted. Is it a DIY job with a drill etc or a specialist? I guess it depends on your ability!

If you take the flooring out there are dimples in the floor where the holes need to be, you should fit the strengthening plates underneath but if they're not going to be travelling seats you could I suppose get away without them, but if you sell it on there's the potential for someone to just fit seat belts with insufficient floor fixings.

Perfect reply Roger, well done. To the op why not just fold and unclip the seats and just leave them at the back of the van then just refit before you travel home??
