Hi folks;

I'm getting ready to pull the AHU from my golf in a few weeks in preparation for my TDI swap.
My end goal is about the 140-150bhp mark as I believe from lots of reading on various TDI forums that this is a safe limit for an unmodified block.

To reach this I will need new injectors, a remap and a new turbo.

Turbo options appear to be-

Original ABL or AHU wastegated turbo
Pros- Ive already got both, no fabrication needed for ABL turbo
Cons- Both turbos are high milage, the AHU is on 200k miles
- To reach this BHP will push either turbo to its limits

ABL hybrid
Pros- Plug and play
Cons- Will it reach my power goal?

GT2052 wastegate turbo
Pros- Good power scope
Cons- Don't know if anyone has done this in a T4. How much fabrication?

VNT conversion
AFN turbo and manifold from sharan/galaxy/alhambra
Pros- cheap secondhand
Cons- Possible need to clock turbo? Does this manifold fit? New exhaust. New ECU

Vauxhall VNT
Pros, Use ABL exhaust manifold, minimal fabrication
Cons, New ECU, custom downpipe

If anyone has got any thoughts on this I'd be grateful for the input.

Cheers

Cons- too small for your desired power output

edited for you:cool:

the standard turbo is small, designed for early boost on a small-ish low powered engine. might support ~115 flywheel hp but it will not be happy there;)

read on tdiclub forums for tuning info(y)

Ref: The VNT
I think if I remember rightly the above set-up was standard in the 150bhp T4 from factory.

AFN VNT - We just did this for a customer and he got 160 bhp on PP1's.

The wastegate is limited by boost creep. We can spec a turbo for 2 bar but the EMP's overcome spring tension and result in boost creep so we now recoomend the AFN hybrid for the 1.9's based on the excellent results we have seen from them. Also the way ours are set up is second to none in terms of trim.

Furthermore we can do the AFN VNT Hybrid that does not require an ECU for boost control. We use a special actuator for this goal and its been proven.
