Hoped someone might be able to advise me on this one.
My T4 is earning it's keep at the moment while my car's been in in dock for rather too long.

It's actually a 1.9 pd tdi 130 which has a suspected fault with the head.

Car has 170k on it and I had a spare engine sat there with 70k on it.

Head gasket went and mechanic reconed it wouldn't be a huge amount more to just swap the whole engine.

I'd already taken the spare head off and as I do a lot of miles decided to go the whole hog and make sure the new engine asrealy was as new

Head skimmed and valves reground, head preasure tested
Block inspected and ne sign of wear
Spare injectors all tested at specialist and given Ok
new injector seals and bolts.
New clutch

All anciliaries kept of car, which was running perfect except for using a bit more fuel and spitting out water
from header.
Recent recon turbo, tandem fual pump, new VAG MAF and temp sensors.

All went together.....starts well enough but lacking power.
Mechanic has had it back in bits several times, diagnostics galore, cat off, separate fuel supply, pressure tested everything in sight, multiple timing checks, etc

Final conclusion is fuel rail could be leaking internally, though no signs of fuel oil mixing.

Engine specialists say they test everything on heads bar the fuel rail as there is no way to test that.

As I never actually saw the new head in action before fitting, can't be sure?

Does anyone know how this fuel rail could be tested???

Looking like I'll have to start all over again getting old head reconditioned
