Hi, I'm having difficulty locating a spare part. Can anybody help?
My requirement is for one of the following items:
"VW - 074 906 044 A - Throttle valve potentiometer"
Which is to go on a: 1994 VW T4 Transporter Automatic 2370cc diesel Registration No "L183 ORC".
The following item is said to be an alternative:
"BOSCH - 1 467 217 342 - Adjusting Potentiometer, idle mixture"
Cheers, Ray Fletcher (01886 812268) [email protected]

The part you are looking for is referred to as a G69 & was fitted to many VW's of the same era.
Have you tried cleaning it as a dirty coked up internal body can cause it to throw a P code?

Thanks for the info. Vehicle is with the VW specialist garage just now so I shall make them aware. If not just dirty as you suggest, do you know if a replacement potentiometer is still available anywhere?

They still do them on modern cars & they still call it a G69 but whether you'd get it to fit your body is another thing. Internal Carbon deposits are still the biggest problem & they are now fitted to petrol cars only as far as I'm aware.

Got the item cleaned but it has not made a difference.
Has anybody got a spare part VW - 074 906 044 A to sell me?

Looks like none are available anywhere, including the alternative BOSCH - 1 467 217 342 which I have also tried to source worldwide. Does anybody know of a UK specialist who may be able to adapt a more modern version of a G69, as mentioned by BingleyLion above, to substitute for the original. I guess it would need to be someone who understands the technical issues properly.

CaliCampers?.....they may have one "hanging around".
Problem is, a 1994....not many left in 'yards that haven't been raided for "common" parts and not crushed. :(

Thanks for your advice but I have already been there. No luck. My 1994 T4 is a coach-built motor home and not much used, so it is still in great condition. A pity there are so few left.

Hi Ray, Did you find one? I'm after the exact same part. I found out that VW dropped the part in their parts list in Jan this year. It's going to be hard to find. If you found any places with stock, could you get in touch. Thanks

Going through the same issue and coming to the conclusion that taking the Automatic gearbox out and putting in a manual could be the only answer. Drastic but you'll get better MPG and the parts are more available.
