It's not "out-of-this-world" as long as they are using genuine parts (that give a 3-4 yr warranty).
You also need a garage that knows what they are doing and have the software to set the timing correctly.

Never seen 3-4yr warranty on belts & rollers etc, here in Italy 2 years if VW fits em, great when my pump belt was shredded at 25 months due to worn out new tensioner.

Was in France when this happened, weekend no parts, bodged with a worn belt, found a belt and tensioner in Luxembourg no warranty on parts unless they fitted them.

Parts are not the main cost....it's having someone who knows WHAT THEY ARE DOING to change and set the timing up.
Even VW dealers these days give the job to the "trainee" as the old school guys have either retired or now have an orifice job!
You need someone in his late 40's to 60 year old who KNOWS how to do it...not follow the crappy Haynes manual... o_O

Simon Baxter (Brickwerks) was a guru, but has stopped taking on new work as he has so many "followers" that he has no time for "new work". :(
I drove from Norway to Holmfirth for him to do mine! (you could try calling him....)
