Hi all , 3 years ago I converted my work T4 into a campervan. For a first attempt I was well pleased with the finish .even now i don't think there is much i would do differently. I used Trim Fix to stick all the carpeted areas ,wheel arches, door jambs etc. These parts still look good. I also used Trim Fix to stick white broken leather look vinyl to all the cupboard fronts and wall panels. For some reason about year ago i noticed some of the vinyl coming away from the ply backing. thought it just a small patch that could be rectified.but unfortunately it gradually all came loose. I ended up removing it all. When I removed it I noticed that the vinyl looked like it had not ever been glued at all , and the ply backing still had tacky patches . I thought Trim Fix was the dogs dangly bits as far as this type of work was concerned. Am I wrong??? Although I have changed the style of the interior now I am still puzzled as to why this happened.
Has anybody any ideas please?

Spray adhesive or brush adhesive?

Also, is it peeoling on just ply surfaces but not on metal panels?

I'm wondering if the ply sheet has absorbed the adhesive over time... when converting, some apply a coat of diluted PVC glue on to ply panel or ply unit surface to let the ply soak up the PVC a bit and then apply the spray adhesive for this reason. I think there's a product for sealing plywood properly for places like inside boats and priming for tiles in shower/bathroom. Something Bond.

I might be talking rubbish so I'd suggest you listen to whoever comes next to give adivce!

Thanks for the reply Cheeseface . That thought had crossed my mind.
Can't think of any other reason. I just can't believe the vinyl came off
and looked brand new. But i remember when i originally done it I stuck
a piece on wrong and it was a bloody nightmare to get off. very strange.
