Quite new to the T5 scene but picked myself up a nice 57 plate recently and eager to start doing a few things. Started with a oil and filter change but cant undo the nut on top of the filter unbelivebly tight. I am asuming its anti clockwise to undo? Is this normal to be so tight. Any of you guys shed any light . Thanks

make sure you use a hexegan socket and you do find occasionally they are really tight and yes anti clockwise to undo, not found one that has broken trying to undo yet

My 2007 1.9 (85) was exactly the same. As previous, use hexagonal socket - i think 24mm and ratchet, mine took a few taps with my hand and i had to stand on ladder to get decent purchase!

Once you get it off, i was advised to rub some oil around the rubber seal to ensure it comes off easily next time!

Cheers for the advice fellas, got it sorted sat morn. Managed to undo it when engine was cooler i think this helped aswell. Got the correct size hex socket 32mm if anyone needs to borrow it in cardiff area. Saved myself a garage bill. T:
