Hi guys, looking for some help with this, I got my new 2014 T5 this week and notice that it only comes with a AUX connection no USB, is there away you can retro fit a USB media cable in the glove box and bring it to the radio??

I had an RCD310 before fitting the RNS315, I believe you'll need the MDI unit and cable to provide a USB port.

I fitted mine with an ipod cable behind the glovebox and fed the cable in through a box at the back.

You'll need to take out the stereo (unclip top tray, remove screws and unclip facia panel) and glovebox (six screws or so) then feed the cable through. Fairly straightforward and there should be step by step guides on here to remove both, just go easy on the plastics.

Sorry, other thing to point out, I didn't actually need access to a VCDS unit to recode the radio to take the MDI, after a few restarts the radio just picked it up... but it's possible that my van was coded for it by a previous owner. YMMV.

Hey Fishd, where did you get the MDI cable for ipod connection from? do you have a link to it. Looking at fitting one to my 315 as well, any info appriciated T:

Not cheap but you need to make sure you get the radio harness, MDI unit and then the iPod cable. Different cables are required if you want a USB lead presented or new Lightning Connector but they're all up there for sale.

Beware cheaper auctions just selling the MDI box and iPod cable... you'll have no way to connect it to the radio.

My MDI box is just stuck behind the glovebox, stick it down with tape to avoid rattles.
