You didnt do anything wrong you just need to adjust the idle with vag com.

Dead easy 5 min job. Dont do the mechanical adjustomet without speaking to me first. Its only required if vag com dont work which is rare.

so i ask who has the machine lead laptop no more than me about this and wants to earn some beer tokens . i'm in london either e4 or se2 where i work ? or meet at one of the monthly meets london or essex

any help would be great or even a friendly garage . guy near me just aint interested in doing anything helpfull would not even turn my cruise control on for me.
